Different Types of Domain Extensions Dictate Value |

Did you know that the types of domain extensions have a great deal to do with how valuable a domain name is? The highest prices are for the .com extensions, although that's not always the case. If you come up with a great .net or other extension, chances are you can sell the domain name for good money, even if it's not a .com. The rules in coming up with good domain names are to keep it simple and keep it short, regardless of the types of domain extensions you end up choosing. The domain names should also be short, memorable, and easy to spell.
Some types of domain extensions are not available to the general public. The .gov and .edu are reserved for legitimate governmental and educational institutions, and you have to prove that you are a genuine educational agency to get these. In fact, I just checked with a big domain registration company, and they on't even list the .gov or .edu as available types of domain extensions. Too bad, because there are a lot of opportunities for new domain names that have the .gov extension. |
